One of the greatest challenges in cold weather photography is keeping your hands warm while still being able to operate those tiny little buttons and wheels on your camera. Plenty of large expensive mittens and gloves will keep you warm. Unfortunately they are clumsy and just don’t hack it when it comes time to pressing the shutter button or changing your settings on the fly. The answer is not a simple one. I’ve spent many years exploring various solutions and the best I came up with is a compromise, but an acceptable one! My Solution: I have a multi-part solution. First for the outer shell I use a convertible glove (Also known as a sniper glove in tactical and hunting gear stores) They’re also known as Hybrid or fingerless gloves.
